Grace

Grace is ...

Courage under fire
Resilience when hope has faded
Knowing you were meant to be here
Moving purposefully through this life
Blessings in any form
At ease in the flow

Stop.

I do not understand grace.
I do not know if I have truly experienced it.
I write these words as if I know what grace is,
As if it has graced my life.
Perhaps it has and I haven't recognised it.

I'm sure I've had blessings in many forms.
I know I've been at ease in the flow.
I suspect I have both courage under fire
and resilience when hope has faded,
otherwise I would have succumbed to that
Life is not worth living” voice
a long, long time ago.

I do not know the face of grace,
But I know there is
but one letter's difference
between grace and grave.
C for courage.
V for vanquished.

Perhaps I do know grace after all.
